The excitement surrounding Adam Peters’ (AP) arrival was palpable, but as the 2024 rookie class wraps up its second season, the “genius” narrative is hitting a wall. While he secured the franchise cornerstone, the rest of the draft board is looking like a series of costly reaches and massive misses on blue-chip talent.
Here is the scorecard for AP’s first class.
The Lone Bright Spot
Pick 2: Jayden Daniels, QB This was a Major Win. Daniels won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024 and is the only reason we are competitive. Even with the injuries that cost him half of the 2025 season, he is a superstar. If AP missed here, he wouldn’t even have a job right now.
The Defensive Disappointments
Pick 38: Johnny Newton, DT (Major L) This is arguably the worst pick of the class. Newton is entering 2026 with a PFF grade of 47.5, ranking 109th out of 134 defensive tackles. We passed on Cooper DeJean (Pick 40), first team all pro, PFF’s number one ranked cornerback, NFL top 100 60th ranked player, for a rotational backup who can’t even fill a gap. Giving DeJean to the Eagles is a mistake that will haunt us for a decade.
Pick 50: Mike Sainristil, CB (L) Sainristil has the heart, but he’s been consistently outplayed by rookies like Koolaid McKinstry (Pick 41), Dru Phillips (Pick 70), and Kam Kichens (Pick 99). In the NFC East, you need lockdown corners, and Mike just hasn’t lived up to that second-round pedigree.
The Mid-Round Reaches
Pick 53: Ben Sinnott, TE (Major L) A massive reach. Sinnott has been a non-factor for two seasons while tight ends like AJ Barner (Pick 121) and Theo Johnson (Pick 107) drafted much later are actual starters and thriving, Barner has become one of the best tight ends in the game.
Pick 66: Brandon Coleman, OT (Minor L) Coleman was supposed to be a “versatile” project. Instead, he got beaten out by Chris Paul, a 7th-round pick from the Rivera era. When your 3rd-round tackle is getting healthy scratched for a 7th-rounder, you failed the draft. We could have had Dominick Puni (Pick 86) or Mason McCormick (Pick 119) both have played much better football.
Pick 100: Luke McCaffrey, WR (Major L) Another reach. Using a Top 100 pick on a depth receiver who hasn’t produced is inexcusable when playmakers like Troy Franklin (Pick 102) or even Bucky Irving (Pick 125) were on the board.
Final Score: 1-5. One major win, three major Ls, one L, and one minor L.
